Celebrity color analysis: do the experts agree?
We collected every published classification we could find of a celebrity’s color season, 5,422 of them from 62 sites, and checked whether the sources agree with each other. Mostly they do not. Of the 795 celebrities analysed by two or more sources, only 59% are given the same season everywhere, and 29% are not even placed in the same family.

What this means for your own color analysis
Every one of these classifications was made by someone looking at photos, the same way an online tool or a friend with a good eye does it. When 62 sources look at the same famous faces and agree only 59% of the time, the lesson is not that color analysis is fake. It is that a single opinion from a single photo is worth about what it costs. Lighting shifts undertone, makeup hides it, and the neighbouring seasons differ by exactly the thing a photo shows worst.
That is why our own reading is a measurement rather than a verdict: it samples your skin, hair and eyes, corrects the photo’s white balance against the whites of your eyes, always shows the runner-up and the gap, and sharpens as you add photos taken in different light. We tested it on 410 of these celebrities’ photos and published the numbers, including the ones that are not flattering.
How we built this
Ten automated readers collected pages that state a season for a named person, across colour-analysis tools, professional analysts’ blogs, style blogs, magazines, and Korean and Japanese personal-colour publications. Each row keeps the source’s own wording and the page URL in our records. The magazines and professional analysts among the sources include Cosmopolitan, Cosmopolitan Korea, Vogue, The Cut, Glamour, PopSugar, GirlStyle, Nate, Daum and Spice Market Colour. The rest are style blogs, fan communities and colour-analysis tools, which we do not name or link here because several sell a competing product and this page is not an advertisement for them. Labels were mapped onto the 12-season system (“cool summer” and “true summer” are one season; a bare “Winter” counts for the family only). One site listing a person on three pages counts as one source. Sources: 722 rows from colour-analysis tools, 1206 from analysts, 3383 from blogs, 79 from magazines and 32 from communities.

Why do color analysts disagree about celebrities?
Three reasons show up in the data. First, nobody has draped these people: every classification is made from photos, and a red-carpet photo is lit, filtered and made up. Second, the sub-seasons are close: Light Spring and Light Summer differ mainly in undertone, the one thing a camera captures worst. Third, sites copy each other, so a wrong guess can look like consensus. Where two or more sources disagree, 29% of them do not even agree on the family (spring, summer, autumn, winter).
Which celebrities does everyone agree on?
473 people are given one season by every source that names one. The largest groups are Deep Autumn (55), Soft Autumn (54), Light Summer (48). The full lists are on this page, sorted by how many sources agree, and each season page carries its own list.
Can I use a celebrity with my coloring to find my season?
As a starting point, yes, if the sources agree on that celebrity. But the disagreement rate is the warning: if trained eyes looking at hundreds of photos of Anne Hathaway cannot settle on a season, matching yourself to her from one photo will not settle yours either. A measurement of your own skin, hair and eyes, in your own light, is the honest route.
